Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s 1969 Mustang RTR-X to debut at SEMA Show

Back in June, Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Mustang RTR teamed up with Need for Speed to create the 1969 Mustang RTR-X. This classic build with modern-day hardware will make its physical debut at this week's SEMA Show and its "virtual" premiere in an upcoming Need for Speed video game.

Based on a Dynacorn classic body, the RTR-X pays homage to the classic 'Stang, while also featuring modern technology and performance. Motivation comes from a new 5.0-liter Ford V8 with a Kinsler Individual Throttle Body injection system and a MoTeC M800 ECU.

All that power is sent to the rear wheels (wrapped around Falken RT615-K tires) through a Ford Racing Boss 302 R1 six-speed transmission and there's also a heavily modified suspension. Just the way a pro drifter likes it.

"It is very flattering that Need for Speed really gets my vision for Mustang RTR and are embracing it just as Ford and Ford Racing have" Vaughn Gittin Jr. said. "Not only am I overly-excited to drive the RTR-X, but I am equally-excited for the entire world to be able to get behind the wheel of the RTR-X virtually in upcoming Need for Speed video games" he added.

The livery of the car was chosen by public vote, as more than 1,000 readers from the Speedhunter website gave their feedback to Vaughn's team.

Stay tuned on Carscoop as we'll have live photos of the car from the SEMA Show.
